(More customer reviews)Okay..let me start by saying that I have 2 (SHEDDING) dogs who have a doggie door to the backyard and are in and out all day long tracking dirt/leaves inside constantly. Let me also say that I have all hardwood floors throughout, and have been called OCD on the cleanliness of my home. Before purchasing the Bissell Versus, I owned 1 standard (HEAVY) upright vac (Dirt Devil), 2 cordless vacs (one being a Shark), and 2 handheld vacs.
Always on a mission to find the perfect vacuum cleaner, I got sucked (pun intended) right into the infomercial on the Bissell Versus. After reading online reviews (some great, some bad), I decided what the heck..I'll give it a shot. Here is what I found after using it last night for the first time:
1) Hard to find in-stores, but finally found at a local Target on sale for $59. (Yay!)
2) Easy to put together. REALLY easy.
3) Worried about the reviews saying it was hard to maneuver, I found it quite easy (I'm puny)! I didn't find it to be too "top-heavy" at all. WAY lighter than my normal upright vac, and the "V" head makes vacuuming around tables/chairs/furniture so much easier.
4) Vacuumed all of my dog-hair-tumbleweeds without any problem at all, regardless of how big they were, including some larger leaves that had fallen from my houseplants, and one (LARGE) dead bug that appeared sometime while I was out buying this vacuum. I was also very happy with how much dust it picked up! I personally didn't have a problem with the expelled air blowing around hair/debris..the vac sucked it right up before it got too far away.
5) The many reviews complaining about how short the cord is, had me worried I'd spend half my time unplugging/replugging. Although it IS shorter than my normal upright vac, it wasn't AT ALL as bad as some said.
6) Reviews also had me worried about it not getting hair against the floor's baseboard due to the "V" shape - but I didn't have any problems at all. I thought I'd need to use the Crevice Tool/Hose to get against the walls, but thankfully found I didn't even need it (well, just once to get behind the fridge).
7) I LOVE the fact that it is bagless..and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the fact that it doesn't have a roller underneath to get hair/yarn/fuzz wrapped around! I hated trying to cut/unravel that nastiness from around my upright's roller. The Versus just has a big hole that everything gets sucked up! The most interaction I had with the underside, was to pull the fur off of the little "squeegee" thingy after I was done vacuuming my whole house..all of 2 seconds.
8) The only CON I could find, was that I tried to use it to vacuum the dog hair off of a couple floor mats, but it just wasn't doing the job. I'll still have to use my HEAVY one for that, or one of my handhelds.
So, needless to say..I highly recommend the Bissell Versus. :)

Bissell 1715U Spotlifter Cordless Handheld Carpet Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)We purchased one of these a while back, and received another as a gift. The Spotlifter works, to some extent, but there are serious flaws.
First, as noted by another reviewer, the battery life is limited. The limitation is not just in short term use (the unit runs out of juice very quickly) but in terms of long term battery life. I would be shocked if someone got more than a year's life out of the unit, based on our experience with both of the Spotlifters we owned.
Secondly, while not intended to deal with large stains or spills (we had floor standing deep cleaners for those purposes), the Spotlifter is intended to be quick to fill up, operate, and clean. While you can get the unit up and running pretty quickly (as long as the battery lasts), the reservoir and recovery tanks are just too small to deal with a serious stain. Not only is the running time limited, but the fluid becomes exhausted in a hurry. This might be a good product to have around if you have a white carpet, no dogs or children, and spill red wine once a week. This is not a good product for owners of pets larger than 10 lbs, or children less than 40 lbs.
Finally, there are some minor inconveniences in filling and emptying the tank, but these are fairly trivial compared with the more serious problems.

I have 1 child, 2 cats ,a dog and a bird and it literally was a breeze on all of their mess, such as candy wrappers, hair, cat litter and seeds. We have a large townhouse and I could do the first-floor and steps without having to replug somewhere else. The dirt canister is larger than I thought it would be and the suction was great! It's also very easy to clean. It is lightweight and easy to handle and the micro-fresh filter only needs to be replaced 2 times a year ... (Now that makes me breathe easy). The only thing I can come up with that I would change on this vac is that it does not have a retractable cord.

(More customer reviews)I've never found anything that would remove the red dirt/iron stain from siding before finding this product. It gets the stain off everything I've tried it on. It does a great job, even gets the stain off my shoes. It also removes hair spray from the bathroom vanity and cleans the shower to a sparkling finish--just spray, leave for a minute or two, and rinse off with a wet cloth. Lots of other products say they get rid of soap scum easily, but I've tried many of them and they don't work very well, if at all. I've tried many products on the hair spray, too, and could only remove it with lots of scrubbing. With this product, it wipes right off. This is great stuff.

Dirt Devil Power Stick Bagless Vacuum Cleaner, 10 Amps, M084100RED Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this 12 amp Dirt Devil after my 6 amp Eureka broke from 3 years of weekly use. I was very happy with my original 6 amps of power. However, I decided it was time to double up since I live with two cats that constantly shed. The DD does a great job at picking up furballs, sand, dirt, crumbs, small pebbles and many more from my hardwood and tile floors. Besides a great suction power, the DD is also light weight and stands up on its own. However, there are many drawbacks:
1) Too LOUD!! I wear ear plugs every time I use this machine (seriously!!). We already know it has 12 amps of power... we don't need to hear it!
2) The handle is too short. I am 5 feet 6 inches and I honestly feel that the handle is about 2-3 inches too short. I constantly find myself bending my back while using this machine.
3) The vaccum head does not swivel. I loved the fact that my old Eureka had the ability to swivel. It definitely made vaccuming easier.
4) Air shoots out of the side vents, which blows away what I need to suck up from the floor. This is really annoying since I have to "chase" what I want to vaccum.
5) Too big to go under my sofa. I can only get the vaccum head underneath. The entire body will not fit because is too big. I have to clean the remaining 2-3 feet of space with a swifter.
Although the DD does have excellent suction power, I prefer my old 6 amp Eureka, which cleaned just as well, without the loud engine! If you don't want to run around chasing your dirt while wearing ear plugs, then pass up this DD and buy another vaccum.

(More customer reviews)I have been using this product on the runner and scatter rugs in my laundry / mudroom. We have four cats, and two of their litter boxes are located in the room. I have tried Febreeze and Arm and Hammer rug freshener. They are nice products, but they seemed more like a gentle scent. Kind of like a scented candle or one of those plug in types. This scent is STRONG. You will not smell pet odors when you apply it. If you are sensitive to strong scents, I would choose another product. If you are looking for a heavy duty, knock the stink out freshener, this is the one I will be keeping in the supply closet from now on.

Bissell Steam Shot Hard-Surface Cleaner, 39N7A Review

(More customer reviews)I've had good luck with Bissell products, so, given conflicting reviews for other devices an insufficient reviews for the Steam Shot, I purchased one.
OK--it's true. Infomercials for such products are deceptive. Using chemical cleaners is a great deal faster and "easier" than this. Tortoise vs. the hare: This trudges very slowly compared to traditional cleaning. It requires patience.
My concerns with chemical cleaners include the residues left over that attract dirt and dust again, the unpleasantness of using and then worrying about chemicals, and, the concerns about using them near foodstuffs, utensils, prep and cooking surfaces, and, pots and pans.
The advantage of the Steam Shot (and, likely other similar "electric kettle" hand held colleague devices) is, that once a surface or item is clean, it really "is" clean. I don't have any fear or qualms even about using this on kitchen utensils, bread makers, microwaves, and, oven windows. It's also very good at cleaning kitchen cabinet fronts and vertical surfaces such as the outside of the dishwasher, trash compactor, and the fridge. One thing this is extraordinary at is getting at dirt between a metal (or porcelain) surface (say, a sink or stove) and counter tops (Formica, etc.). It's amazing at "rooting" out such dirt! This is also true of the "line" between back splashes and counter tops. I think that "touch-up" cleaning later on will be faster and easier....
Candle wax on the brick of the hearth? (Or a wall?--I'll need now to patch-paint!) The wax is tedious to remove in any case, yet, this is the best solution I've found--the unit definitely will melt wax so that it's easier to remove--absolutely!
As for waiting on the steam, I'm simply busy with scrubbing with a cloth or noting where to clean next--this is not a big problem for me; it seems that, as time goes on, heating up again is pretty fast. I've heard the item's boiling water while heating up. Although it's not always so hot, the steam can become really hot--I certainly believe it becomes hot enough to kill pathogens! It may certainly burn fingers, also, so precautions are smart. Despite what other reviewers think, my Steam Shot becomes very hot: It works! I'm not absolutely certain, but the "kettle" inside appears to be comprised of metal. The plastic of the unit and of the accessories appears to be high quality, also.
(When finished with the Steam Shot--allow it to cool sufficiently, then, slowly open the knob until it's removed (steam may slowly vent while opening). Then, before dumping the water, turn the unit slowly on its side over your sink and dump the water out--away from you--hopefully, the water won't "jet" out into your sink really quickly or explosively. (If so, this indicates that the water still is super-heated and dangerous (after all, it was both heated and pressurized): You don't want it ever to "jet" out at you or anyone else. Let the unit cool sufficiently longer next time!)
Conclusion:
This is nifty, and I enjoy cleaning with it. For heavy cleaning, this requires patience, but, I believe patience is rewarded and saves money! For certain unique household cleaning needs, this fits the bill really well! I haven't tried it, but, a dirty bar-b-q grate likely is too heavy a cleaning task for this. That always has been a pain....

(More customer reviews)You will be amazed (and perhaps disgusted) to find out just how dirty your carpets really are after using this unit (even after vacuuming with a "high-end" vacuum cleaner). It REALLY pulls out the dirt. But make no mistake: this is no "miracle worker". If your carpets are soiled with pet stains, you will want to pre-treat stain areas by spraying (and thereafter scrubbng with a scrub sponge) the stained areas with the cleaning solution prior to using the unit. Also, after 3 or 4 months, most pet stains will reappear. This is not a negative reflection on the Hoover cleaner, but more a reflection on the realities (and limitations) of carpets, carpet cleaners, and pet stains. I am not aware of any other carpet cleaner (commercial or non-commercial) that can do any better than this unit, and believe me, I have looked. Further, the performance of the unit will depend on your willingness to clean out pet fur and/or other debris from the filters. As said, it is not a miracle cleaner - you have to give it some help by cleaning out the filters so that it can perform at its best. To my knowledge, there is no "miracle carpet cleaner" that ovbiates the need to peform essential basic maintenance on the unit.
This product also wins accolades for not leaking cleaning solution from the primary tank or the recovery tank. It's a very "tight unit", liquid-wise.
If you want clean carpets, and don't want to drop $1000 or more on a true "commercial" cleaner, this is the way to go.

(More customer reviews)I purchased my McCulloch MC1235 1300-Watt Handheld Steam Cleaner last year from [...], and I have loved it ever since! I use this great tool to clean automotive door / wall panels, engines, carpet, upholstery, and also household items such as microwaves, toaster ovens, vacuums and such. I have owned other steam cleaners in the past and gotten mixed results (from exploding boilers to no steam out of the box), but I am finally satisfied with the reliable performance and great customer service of McCulloch and SteamFast (manufacturer). When un-boxed, the vibrant yellow steam cleaner has grey accents and a high grade feel to the plastics used in its manufacture. I really like the refillable water tank, and also the eight minutes of steam you get with that container. Other brands of steam cleaners hold enough water to make less than five minutes of steam, and call for you to allow the unit to cool before refilling. With the McCulloch steam cleaner, you don't need to let it cool; just pour 8 oz of tap water into the reservoir and go!
There are some pros and cons with the cleaner I should mention:
Pros:
quick-refilling reservoir
high-powered steam
lots of useful tools
adjustable steam output
quick warm-up time
compact size
Cons:
loud water pump (as indicated by other reviews)
poor quality switches / reservoir cap
unit gets hot after extended use
As you can see, the pros outnumber the cons. The water pump is loud, but that is the trade off for having the amazing variable steam output switch... Speaking of that switch, you have to play with it to get the steam to come out "full power" as the quality of that particular switch is sub-par. This problem doesn't seem to extend to the steam switch, but I will update if anything happens. The reservoir cap is held on with two minute tabs less than 5mm long. I had to call the manufacturer to get a new one out of warranty (it broke 1 year 3 months of course ;D) but they were very helpful in sending me the correct part for a low price of less than ten dollars. The unit DOES get hot on the top and near both ends after long uses, but I always have it plugged in for at least 45 minutes when I clean so that may be part of it... Overall, I love it for what I use it for, and it beats purchasing chemicals all the time to clean everything. I hope my review will help make the decision to choose this steam cleaner over the inferior "infomercial" models... Thanks, and enjoy your new steam cleaner!

Once I didnt even know water was squirting out until I smelled smoke coming from the steam cleaner. The hose is not clogged and there are no holes. The hose that is squirting water is the hose that connects to the steam cleaner.The bottom of the cleaner still works. Just not the hose.I have a warranty from walmart and am returning it tomorrow before the steam cleaner kills me.
